Build Intelligent Data & AI Agents with Microsoft Fabric and Foundry
Proposed session for SQLBits 2026TL; DR
This full-day workshop shows how to build intelligent data and AI agent solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Foundry. You’ll create ETL pipelines with the Medallion Architecture, build AI agents using no-code, low-code, and VS Code, and query data with Fabric Data Agents. The solution is deployed using CI/CD, showing how to deliver production-ready data and AI solutions end to end.
Session Details
This full-day workshop is about building intelligent data solutions and AI agents using Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Foundry.
You will start by building a complete data pipeline in Microsoft Fabric, using the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) to ingest, clean, and prepare data in OneLake. You’ll see how real-world ETL works in Fabric and how data is organised for analytics and AI.
Next, you will use Fabric Data Agents to consume this data and ask questions using natural language, without writing complex queries.
You will then create AI agents in Microsoft Foundry. You’ll build agents using no-code and low-code tools, and also see how to extend and customise agents using Visual Studio Code for more advanced scenarios.
Finally, you will deploy the entire solution using CI/CD pipelines, showing how data pipelines, agents, and configurations can be safely promoted across environments.
By the end of the workshop, you will have seen how data engineering, AI agents, and DevOps come together to deliver intelligent, production-ready solutions on the Microsoft data platform.

3 things you'll get out of this session
By the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:
1.Build an end-to-end data pipeline in Microsoft Fabric using the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) for real-world ETL scenarios.
2.Create and use Fabric Data Agents to query and explore data in OneLake using natural language.
3.Design AI agents in Microsoft Foundry, using no-code, low-code, and Visual Studio Code–based approaches.
4.Deploy data pipelines and AI agents using CI/CD, following best practices for environment promotion and governance.
5.Understand how data engineering, AI agents, and DevOps work together to deliver intelligent, production-ready solutions on the Microsoft data platform.
