We know a lot of people can get uneasy when it comes to attending conferences. Your mind gets flooded with questions: How do I get connect with speakers? What should I wear? What if I don’t know anyone? There are so many questions about what could go wrong…but what about, what will go right?
We’re Here to Help
At SQLBits we want to make sure your doubts are nowhere in sight! As part of your admission, we provide a little conference ‘survival’ swag bag with pens, mugs, and little goodies to give you easy talking points so you can mingle with other candidates. But we have a few other tips as well.
Try something new: We recommend you try and broaden your horizon when it comes to which session to attend – you don’t want to sit with through something you already know about, do you?
Bring—or find—a buddy: If the feeling of going in alone is what you are worried about, SQLBits offers great opportunities to help find you a ‘conference buddy’ as we provide you with breakfast, lunch, and snacks!
Take the plunge: One of the key selling points of SQLBits is how easy it is to meeting new people in the laid-back networking opportunities we create: from the infamous themed party to the comfy beanbags conversation areas. You might be dreading the upcoming ‘break’ that’s scheduled in on the timetable, but this is the perfect chance to get suited and booted, hand out those business cards and introduce yourself to those around you. We all know how awkward (and a little scary) it is to approach a stranger but, 9 times out of 10, they are in the same boat waiting to approach you. Why not start up a chat with the person in the seat next to you? What session did they most enjoy? Who is their favourite speaker? Why are you at the conference? These simple questions allow for major networking opportunities as one thing leads to the next… you’re talking to friends of friends, and everyone is happy!
At SQLBits, we do our level best to make sure everyone gets what they want out of this conference. If there’s something we can do to help you enjoy the event more, don’t hesitate to email us at contactus@sqlbits.com, or talk to us during the event. We’re happy to find out new ways that we can make SQLBits even better!
