Guy in a Cube Makes a Splash for Young Carers

Guy in a cube, Adma Saxton and Patrick LeBlanc at SQLBits 2024

We’re thrilled to announce that Guy in a Cube‘s incredible fundraising efforts have resulted in a £2,907.90 donation to Hart Voluntary Action (HVA)! This fantastic contribution will directly support HVA’s mission to take 25 young carers to the annual Young Carers Festival.

What is a Young Carer?

A young carer is a person under 18 who provides unpaid care to a family member or loved one who is ill, frail, disabled or has a mental health condition. These young heroes often take on significant responsibilities, putting their own needs aside to support those they care for.

The Young Carers Festival: A Time to Shine

The Young Carers Festival is an annual celebration of these remarkable young people. It’s a chance for them to relax, have fun, and connect with others who understand their unique experiences. This year’s theme, “Shine Bright, Speak Out,” perfectly captured the spirit of the festival, and Emeli Sandé’s inspiring anthem “Shine” provided the perfect soundtrack!

Guy in a Cube Makes a Difference

By donating 10% of every SQLBits ticket sold using the GIAC code, Guy in a Cube played a vital role in making this incredible experience possible for 25 young carers. We caught a glimpse of a few of these amazing participants in the opening shots of the festival video – Ryan, Sophie, Katie, Anna, Kait-lyn, Rilee, and Tyrese, all shining brightly! You can watch the video here!

Thank you, Guy in a Cube, for your incredible support!

Together, we can continue to shine a light on the important role young carers play in our communities and ensure they have the opportunities they deserve.
