Ken has been in the software engineering field since 1988 with twenty of those years being with Microsoft. At Microsoft Ken has worked predominately in SQL Server and System Center. As a Dev Manager, GPM and now Group Engineering Manager, Ken's primary focus and passion areas have been in tooling and systems management. In SQL Server, he was the Dev Manager for SQL Manageability from 2007 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015 Ken spent time working Azure SQL Database and focused on telemetry pipelines and using ML to monitor event streams for anomalies. In the Fall of 2015 Ken moved back to the SQL Client Tools to drive a renewed focus in building cross-platform developer and administration experiences for Azure Data. The latest additions to the portfolio include Azure Data Studio with its many extensions and a Visual Studio Code SQL extension. The team also continually invests in regular updates to the flagship SQL tools such as SSMS, SQLPS and SSDT.
Prior to Microsoft, Ken worked in three startups: VersaCAD, ProTools, and was a founding engineer of Kaspia Systems. Kaspia Systems was acquired by Visio and in turn by Microsoft in 2000.
