Vibe-coding for the data professional

Proposed session for SQLBits 2026

TL; DR

We’ll explore how Data professionals can use vibe-coding to build small applications around data workflows, speed up transformations with AI-powered workflows, and collaborate with AI to iterate faster.

Session Details

AI coding assistants have changed how we write code, but they’ve also changed who gets to write it, and how fast ideas turn into working solutions.

In this session, we’ll explore vibe-coding: a practical, intent-driven way of building data solutions by collaborating with AI. Instead of starting with syntax, we start with outcomes. Describing what we want, validating results, and iterating quickly. Think less “perfect code,” more “tight feedback loop.”

We’ll explore how Data professionals can use vibe-coding to build small applications around data workflows, speed up transformations with AI-powered workflows, and collaborate with AI to iterate faster. We’ll also cover the limits of vibe-coding, and why fundamentals remain the safety net that keeps fast solutions from breaking in production.

3 things you'll get out of this session

- Introduction to vibecoding and its tools - Inspiration for why and how to use - Pitfalls and risks
