F is for Fabric
Proposed session for SQLBits 2026TL; DR
F is for Fabric explains Microsoft Fabric in a fun, Sesame Street–style session. Using simple language and analogies, you’ll learn what Fabric is, what it’s good for, and what each workload does—leaving with a clear, practical understanding of the platform.
Session Details
Microsoft Fabric can feel big, confusing, and full of long words. Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, Notebooks, Real-Time Analytics… it’s a lot.
In this session, we go back to basics — Sesame Street basics.
F is for Fabric is a fun, high-level tour of Microsoft Fabric where every concept is explained as if the audience is five years old (no prior Fabric knowledge required). Using simple language, clear analogies, and plenty of smiles, we’ll explore:
What Microsoft Fabric actually is
What Fabric is good at (and what it’s not)
What each Fabric workload does — Lakehouse, Warehouse, Power BI, Data Factory, Real-Time Analytics, and more
How all the pieces fit together into one platform
Despite the playful delivery, this session is seriously useful. By the end, you’ll walk away with a clear mental model of Fabric, when to use each workload, and how to explain Fabric to other people without needing a whiteboard and an hour.
Whether you’re brand new to Fabric or just want a simpler way to think about it…
This session is brought to you by the letter F.
