From the perspective of a DBA who had to work with the internal, fairly new, Cloud Competence Center of an Enterprise to get many 100's of TB's of data into Azure, a story about the learning curve corporations go through, when they suddenly find themselves without the IT department silo's with all their slow but proven procedures. This is a story about learning new skills, re-inventing the wheel separate from other departments doing the same, coporate policies not set in stone anymore but changing a couple of times per year. And of course some Fear and Doubt. Cloud Compentency Centers seem to go through phases and with them the whole customer journey, in this session we will name them and discuss what went well and what slowed us down or scared us. There will be a fair bit of Azure related tech talk but only to accompany the story, this is about the lessons learned.
