The in-memory OLTP engine has been around since version 2014 of the database engine, do you need to be a SaaS provider processing billions of transactions a day to use this ?, the short answer is absolutely not and this session will show you why by presenting a number of use cases that most people should find useful from the bulk loading of data to scalable sequence generation. But what is wrong with the legacy engine that we all know and love ?, why do we need the in-memory engine ?. Along the way this session will provide an overview of what the in-memory engine is, why it is required and why with SQL Server 2016 service pack 1, it is more cost effective to use than ever before.
