Session Details
AI is offering us new ways to explore data that can empower users to do more themselves than ever. This session will touch on Microsoft's options and take a deeper dive into using Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for conversational BI. MCP servers give us the option to extend our tools in virtually any way we want to. We can use them to plug various LLMs into our data. That also means we can talk to AI about our data and how it relates to real outside market information.
We’ll see some examples of conversational analytics that aren’t available in Copilot or Data Agents. We’ll also talk about why some of this is with good reason. There are different tools for different jobs and MCP servers (and AI in general) are no different.
Expect to learn about
MCP Servers - what they are and how you can use them
When we can use AI and conversational BI to help us
How we can combine different MCP tools to make more use of AI
How this fits into our current landscape
What affect AI could have on our jobs
The importance of getting the fundamentals right with our platform in order to get value from AI
How you can get started with them
If you’re interested in seeing how MCP servers could integrate into our data landscape in coming years and you want to see how you can get started with them then this is for you. It’s not going to be a hugely technical session that goes into the details of how MCP servers actually work. Rather it will look at how we can get started with them and the new options they give us. This is told from the perspective of a data professional looking to leverage AI in a way that can truly add value.
