Children, Young People & Safeguarding Terms & Conditions

SQLBits is a professional conference designed primarily for adults. 

We recognise that some attendees may wish to bring children or young people under the age of 18 to the event. Where this occurs, the following policy applies. 

Attendance of Children and Young People 

• Children and young people under the age of 18 may attend SQLBits only when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, unless they are registered to attend the official SQLBits crèche. 

• Parents and guardians remain fully responsible at all times for the supervision, safety, behaviour, and wellbeing of their child or young person, except during periods when the child is signed into the official SQLBits crèche. 

Crèche Provision 

• SQLBits offers a separately registered crèche facility, delivered by a specialist childcare provider. 

• The crèche operates only during published hours and must be booked in advance. 

• Responsibility for children attending the crèche transfers to the childcare provider only for the duration of the booked crèche session, and in line with the provider’s own policies and procedures. 

• Outside of crèche hours, children must be accompanied and supervised by their parent or guardian at all times. 

Supervision & Event Environment 

• Children must not be left unattended within the venue at any time outside of the crèche. 

• The event environment may include large crowds, technical production equipment, and content not specifically designed for children. 

• Parents and guardians should consider whether the event environment is suitable for their child before attending. 

Safeguarding 

SQLBits is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees. Appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures are in place to support staff, contractors, and helpers in responding to any safeguarding concerns. 

Safeguarding arrangements relating to the crèche are managed by the appointed childcare provider in line with their professional standards. SQLBits maintains oversight to ensure appropriate safeguarding arrangements are in place. 

Breaches of Policy 

SQLBits reserves the right to refuse entry to, or require the removal of, any attendee where: 

• A child or young person is not appropriately supervised 

• Crèche terms and conditions are not followed 

• Behaviour raises safety or safeguarding concerns
