PowerPivot and QlikView 101
How to get started with PowerPivot and QlikView. This session will cover how to combine data sources, common pitfalls, adding some calculation logic and building a basic dashboard.
We’ll walk through the same example on both systems and compare the results, pros and cons of each.

Alex is the owner and lead consultant at Purple Frog, a SQL Server Business Intelligence consultancy with clients including Barclays Capital and Confused.com. He specialises in dimensional data modelling, data warehouse design, ETL systems, OLAP cubes, MDX, PowerPivot and DAX. He also runs the Midlands SQL Server user group.
As well as running Purple Frog, Alex is also currently in his final year studying an MSc in Business Intelligence, writing a thesis on the performance of loading type 2 SCDs into a data warehouse.
As well as speaking at SQLBits, he is also a regular speaker at various SQL Server user groups around the country.
