Steph (Affirmative):
DevOps is great, but it left data folks out in the cold. To get data pros working in a collaborative, faster, and robust manner with the business we need to spend dedicated time on how to do it and the answers aren't necessarily the same as they were for developers. The term DataOps will help us explain to our various tribes what we're aiming to achieve and that they matter.

Alex (Negative):
The problem is real - but inventing a new name for data folks will exacerbate it. DevOps promotes breaking down silos. Different names divide us rather than unite us. The problem is that DevOps now carries all sorts of assumptions about tooling, job roles and processes. Instead of inventing a new DevOps, let's get back to the core of what DevOps is supposed to be about.
