A real-life example of how I implemented SQL Server Policy-Based Management to manage hundreds of SQL Servers across multiple data centres.

Often overlooked and underestimated Policy-based SQL Server management is a very powerful feature allowing to stay compliant with any size SQL Server Estate.

Virtualisation makes it easier and faster than ever to provision new servers and constantly increasing number of databases makes it difficult for DBAs and companies to stay on top of their environments.

In an hour-long session, we will discuss what the Policy-based management is, how to leverage its power to auto-configure newly built servers and how to enforce the desired configuration in production and non-production environments. I will show my own approach to centrally managed master repository and different ways of policy distribution to make sure all policies stay in sync.

All this is based on my own experience gained whilst implementing PBM in a large scale environment.
