It’s an age-old problem: devs want prod data for dev and test.

It helps them write better code. Self-service access to usable test-data aligns with DevOps principles such
as adopting a “shift-left” mentality to testing.

Unfortunately, in the age of data breaches and tighter regulation it's generally unwise and/or illegal to
give devs access to some of the data.

So what do you do?

We’ll talk about the GDPR, anonymisation, pseudonymisation and five techniques to provide appropriate “production-like” data. I’ll demo these techniques both in raw T-SQL and using some of the Microsoft and 3rd party tools that make the task easier.

This session will equip you to discuss the problem in an informed manner and suggest several solutions and their pros and cons.
