DAX Gotchas
The FILTER function does not create a new filter context but a row context. The ROW function is executed in a filter context without creating a row context. To demystify this and all the other DAX Gotchas that I bumped into is the goal of my session.
Debugging common DAX and Model performance issues
In this session, we will explore real world DAX and Model performance scenario's. These scenarios range from memory pressure to high CPU load. Watch as we will dive into the model and improve performance by going through concrete examples.
DAX Best Practices
Best bractices in DAX formulas from real world experience.
DAX Optimization Examples
In this session we analyze some DAX expressions and Tabular models and, through the usage of DAX Studio and some understanding of the VertiPaq model, we will look at how to optimize them.
Understanding the Power BI data model
In this session we will look at all the important topics that are needed to get your Power BI modelling skills to the next level. We will cover the in memory engine, relationships, DAX filter context, DAX vs M and DirectQuery.
Impact of weather on English Premier League in Power BI
By using open data and web scraping in Power BI we will examine if weather has an impact on games in the English Premier League. We will look at the advantages and disadvantages of using open data and web page data how Power BI works with it.
Using PowerBI and DAX to predict and win Fantasy F1
Using PowerQuery, PowerPivot, PowerView and DAX to model, analyse and win a Fantasy Formula 1 league. Guarantee yourself eternal glory as a braniac petrol head, and become a PowerBI and DAX pro in the process.
Advanced Modeling with Analysis Services Tabular
This session goes beyond the classical star schema modeling, exploring new techniques to model data with Power Pivot and SSAS Tabular. You will see how brute-force power in DAX allows different data models than those used in SSAS Multidimensional
DAX Patterns
Learn ready-to-use DAX patterns improving development speed of Power Pivot solutions. Good also for SSAS Tabular developers.
Optimizing & Analyzing DAX Query Plans
Alberto will start with a simple query and he will perform on stage all the necessary steps to optimize it, showing you the tools ant the techniques used to identify the bottleneck and to fix the performance issues
DAX Query Engine Internals
In this session, we will analyze the way DAX solves filtering. Starting from simple queries, we will follow the steps DAX does with the filter context, discovering the internals of the query engine of DAX.
DAXMD: SSAS Multidimensional meets DAX and Power View
This session looks at the most significant new functionality to be added to SSAS Multidimensional in recent years: support for the DAX language and Power View.
MDX vs. DAX: Currency Conversion Faceoff
Compare and contrast how multidimensional and tabular achieve the same end result in quite different ways. Features covered can be used in a broad range of scenarios (not only currency conversion), adding valuable knowledge to your SSAS arsenal.
BI from space: PowerPivot with NASA data
In this session, you will learn how to combine data from web services, tables and cubes to build a powerful model, and visualise it in Excel.
Time Intelligence in DAX
We are going to show how to compute classical time intelligence with the built-in DAX functions. Then, we will show some more complex time intelligence formulas that require to think out of the box, using advanced data modeling techniques.
Building Great Models for Crescent
SQL Server Code Name Denali Reporting Services will include Project Crescent for visualizing, interacting with and presenting data. Project Crescent. Come to this session to see how to make the most of this new tool.
Many-to-Many Relationships in DAX
Deep dive into the handling of many to many relationships in DAX. How to make them work and how to optimize their speed thorugh many patterns and live examples of M2M usage.
MDX and DAX-compare and contrast
This talk looks at MDX and DAX, examining their similarities and differences. It won’t turn you into an expert in either but it will help you to decide, given your particular career plans, if either or both are worth learning.
BISM Introduction
Introduce the features of BISM (BI Semantic Model), the new engine that will be available in Analysis Services "Denali".
PowerPivot Advanced Data Modeling
During this session we are going to analyze common business problems that require and advanced usage of DAX functions and data modeling with PowerPivot.
Implementing Common Business Calculations in DAX
This session will introduce the basic concepts of the new multidimensional calculation language, DAX, and show how to implement several common calculations in it
