Backup ... set ... Restore!

SQL backups within your enterprise should be like making coffee, good and often!  One of the most important aspects for a database environment is ensuring reliable backups are being executed and a dependable recovery plan is established in case of a system failure or data corruption.
Setting up basic backups is quite simple.  Adding on log backups and differentials is easy as well. However, in real life, we still see a lot of wrong backup configurations and backup failures!
In this session, you will learn about the backup and restore strategies, the different recovery models, the main backup types, implementing restore scenarios, restoring a full backup, restoring to a point in time and backup/restore best practices.

I'm a SQL Server Consultant (MCTS, MCITP) at Kohera in Belgium, and have been working with SQL Server since 2000. I have a lot of experience with managing large databases in telecom and finance environments. Performance tuning, SQL audits, migrations and training are also part of the job. I have also a profound knowledge in implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Microsoft Failover Clustering, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Database Mirroring, …).  I'm a regular speaker at events in Belgium like SQL Server Days, 12 hours of SQL 2012, Community Day and Microsoft TechNet Live Meetings.
