Understanding Data with Business Intelligence and Excel
Understanding large amounts of data and the relationships in
this data are one of the primary functions of Analysts and Information Workers. Often there is a struggle between corporate rhetoric
and the real knowledge that can be derived from the underlying data which the
analyst must differentiate. Further, the
IW role is complicated because they often rely on extracts that are provided to
them without fully understanding how the data is generated.
This session looks at how the IW can use Excel as a front
end tool for understanding datasets. We examine
various methods for understanding datasets including data mining, power pivot, power
view and other tools that can be used.
